2000 Broward County Felony Sign
Made notorious since
Democrats claimed this was meant to scare off Democrat Voters on Election Day. This sign was
in place
in the precincts throughout Broward County during the Presidential 2000 Election
the year of the recount with Election Supervisor Jane Carroll. She said
she had to resign in order to protect her health. "It's like having election day
for 10 days in a row... I feel like I'm incarcerated," said Mrs. Carroll, as she
announced a decision to resign and go on holiday to California.
Mrs. Carroll had been working 15-hour days scrutinizing ballots and
arbitrating bitter disputes between Republicans and Democrats. Replacing
Jane Carroll.. Election Supervisor Miriam Oliphant, Broward County's now
suspended elections supervisor, beat a noon deadline to file for re-election in
July. As her re-instatement trial was taking place four floors away, Oliphant
filed to run for election supervisor as a Democrat
